Dear Friends of Compagnie Katie Ward, with great joy, we’re launching our 2026 fundraising campaign!
To support the next phase of creation, cover travel and accommodation costs, and support out-of-town collaborators we are hoping to raise $7,000.

Hyper Portrait, an exciting new creation that brings together dance, drums, and spoken word. Hyper Portrait explores indeterminacy as a way of loosening fixed identities and opening space for more plural experiences of self.
A vital part of this project is my collaboration with Laurie Young, a Berlin-based Canadian artist whose expertise in mimicry has deeply shaped my research. To continue this work, we need to bring Laurie to Canada for focused creation periods, covering travel and accommodation, as well as support other out-of-town collaborators. The work will be developed between November 2026 and March 2027, with performances planned in three cities in Québec and Canada.
In order to make Hyper Portrait a reality, we need your help!!
Your support will go directly toward artist fees, flights, and housing, helping us create the conditions to gather, research, and build something rigorous and alive.
Over the past year, CKW has built strong momentum through projects and collaborations:
✶ We launched the pilot project Tiny School with Nien Tzu Weng, gathering invited artists to build
structures for learning and mutual support.
✶ We toured Hyper Portrait in development through Marseille, Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Paris, and Brussels
to workshop the piece.
✶ In collaboration with Kelly Keenan, I created Le Bon bon ton a new choreography with UQAM dance
students.
✶ I offered workshops at Studio 303 for The Score to Dance Infinite Realities and continued embodied
anatomy classes at Nyata Nyata.
✶ I also supported several artists’ creation processes as an outside eye, including work by Zoey Gauld, Audrée Juteau, Catherine Lavoie-Marcus, François Bouvier, Matija Ferlin, and Ame Henderson.
We are building on this momentum as we move into the next phase of creation.
Can we count on your support? You can donate through our new fundraising platform called Canada Helps : link here!. Canada Helps will issue a tax receipt, and donors will also receive a letter of thanks!
Your generosity directly supports artists and sustains a vibrant, collaborative artistic community.
I hope to share Hyper Portrait with you soon!!
Thank you very much,
Katie Ward
